Van fire extinguished in Carol Stream
Carol Stream firefighters responded to a van fire near Peacock Engineering, 720 Center, Carol Stream, Monday afternoon at 2:25 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a van fully engulfed in flames outside of an overhead door near the northwest corner of the building.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and checked to make sure it did not spread to the building. The fire was put out by 2:38 p.m., officials said.
Fire officials said damage was limited to the van and the overhead bay door, and estimated to be at about $50,000.
Personnel from Bloomingdale and Glenside fire protection districts responded to the scene.
One Carol Stream firefighter did sustain a minor injury at the scene, but was not transported to a hospital.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but fire officials said foul play is not suspected.
