Obama shouldn't criticize Palin

It seems to me that Barack Obama has forgotten what he is campaigning for. In a recent campaign appearance in Farmington Hills, Mich., his change rhetoric was forgotten. The main thrust of his remarks were an onslaught of throwing barbs at Gov. Sarah Palin.

The verbiage written, no doubt, for him is no longer about the issues. Instead, he approves speeches aimed at attacking soccer moms, pit bulls and lipstick. How does that form of mudslinging win over undecided voters who may have been interested enough to listen to his real message?

Needless to say, I am not an Obama fan. I was, and still am, vehemently opposed to his gaining possession of the White House, much less the nation.

Let's face it. Lately, the theme of his campaign states that he will do anything he can to keep strong-willed soccer moms that wear lipstick the focus of his bid for president.

One would venture to guess that his own wife, Michelle, wears lipstick. In fact, I recall a pretty shade of dark pink gracing her lips as she lauded her husband's outstanding qualifications for President of the United States in a speech given at the Democratic Convention!

Is Michelle a soccer mom? God forbid an all-American trait that many women in our country are proud of should be discussed outside of the Obama family.

Why then, is it fair game to put a negative spin on Sarah Palin's personal life in the Obama campaign? Perhaps it is only a topic of conversation during public appearances in which Obama has stated that personal family life is off limits. Perhaps these words only apply to his family.

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, is not talking to the press right now. Perhaps she took the adage, "When you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all," seriously. She is proving herself and her record day by day by keeping silent.

Sure, she could point out his dismal record in the Senate as a representative of Illinois concerns.

My guess is that she will present herself as the lady she is: mom, grandmother, soccer mom, dog lover and lipstick wearer with the grace and aplomb she shown to the American public at the Republican Convention.
