Elgin man arrested on assault, trespass charges

Oscar Canedo, 23, of 459 Brook St., was arrested Saturday night and charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespass after police said he repeatedly attempted to enter La Movida nightclub, at 850 N. State St., and brandished a knife at a security guard when he was refused entry.

The security guard brought Canedo under control with a Taser gun, police said.

According to reports, Canedo had been previously banned from the club.

Canedo posted $100 bond and was given a Nov. 14 court date in Elgin.
