Sen. Biden must need history lesson

You would think that a vice presidential candidate who has been in Congress for 30 years would know that Herbert Hoover was president, 1929-1933, when the stock market and banks failed.

While Hoover was not at fault for this economic crash, he was not reelected. Television was not commercially available until after World War II and was never used by President Roosevelt, who died in 1945 before the war was over.

Roosevelt did address the nation through his radio fireside chats (1933), heard by many whom had radios; he encouraged listeners to have faith in the banks and to support the new deal.

That is probably what Sen. Biden mistakenly referred to.
