Coburn leads Libertyville

Libertyville's boys golf team had five players break 40 Thursday.

The Wildcats needed that kind of effort to beat Zion-Benton at Village Green.

Led by Brett Coburn's 2-over-par 37, Libertyville carded a 154 to edge the Zee-Bees by a stroke. The Wildcats also got 39s from Kurt Kapfer, Marshall Rolston, Rocky Hudson and Tommy Burr.

Zion-Benton's Garrett Newmann and Jake Smith also shot 37 to tie Coburn for medalist honors.

It was Libertyville's second straight dual-meet win by 1 shot.

Grayslake C. d. Huntley: At Pinecrest, Matt Brew fired a winning 38, as the Rams (157) defeated the host Red Raiders (172).

Eric Hogenkamp and Dylan Granquist both shot 39 for Grayslake Central.

Grayslake N. d. Johnsburg: At Renwood, Sean Humphrey earned medalist honors with a 36 to lead the Knights (157) to a 12-stroke victory.

Matt Bergstrom added a 38 for Grayslake North.

Grant d. Richmond-Burton: At Nippersink, the Bulldogs carded a 179 to win by eight shots. Grant's Dillon Peterson recorded the best score with a 43.

Lake Forest d. Warren: At Bittersweet, the Scouts won the North Suburban Lake Division match, 154-171, as they were led by John Boyle's 37.

Zach Kim paced Warren with a 41.

Stevenson d. Mundelein: At Steeple Chase, the Patriots won a good match, 147-153, over the Mustangs in North Suburban Lake Division action.

Stevenson's Troy Weidenmiller was medalist with a round of 35, 1 stroke better than Mundelein's Pat McGrath.

Girls golf

Stevenson d. Lake Forest: Angelina Kim fired a 39 to lead the undefeated Patriots, whose 177 earned them a 22-stroke win.

Stevenson is 9-0 and finished 6-0 in the North Suburban Lake Division.
