It's time to revolt over assessments

The Cuba Township assessor has just reassessed our North Barrington residence for the second time in the last 12 months.

During this period of unprecedented property devaluation, the Cuba township assessor has asked for a 44 percent increase in 2007 (lowered to 35 percent after my appeal), and I just received another "Notice to Taxpayer" raising my assessment by another $10,000!

We just purchased our home in July of 2006 and put most of our life savings into it. Now, in addition to watching my largest investment evaporate by 20 to 30 percent, the Cuba Township assessor is adding insult to injury by gouging the residents of Cuba Township because she is completely out of touch with property value market realities.

I am furious and feel helpless and victimized by this new assessor and our greedy board for tolerating what I consider to be tyranny. Our ancestors revolted against the British for less
