Vending machines catch fire at Arlington Hts. park

Two vending machines at Pioneer Park in Arlington Heights caught fire Thursday afternoon around 4:45 p.m., officials said. Arlington Heights Fire Cmdr. Terry Valentino said the vending machines were near the concession stands outside the parks's pavilion, near the pool. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within minutes, Valentino said. There was no damage to the rest of the park. Arlington Heights police have ruled out vandalism as the source of the fire.
