Gas leak closes Rte. 53 ramp at Lake-Cook Road

Crews have left the scene of a gas leak in Long Grove that shut down a ramp to Lake-Cook Road from 53.

The Long Grove Fire Department was dispatched for a gas leak on Hicks and Lake-Cook roads around 8:45 a.m. A line was broken during construction work, according to the department.

The Cook and Lake County sheriff's police closed down Hicks Road between Lake-Cook and Long Grove roads and Lake-Cook Road between Hicks and 53.

The leak was stopped by 11:23 a.m., and crews were able to leave the scene by about 11:40 a.m.
