Briefs: Fundraiser at restaurant

Colonial Cafe and Ice Cream at 1625 E. Main St., St. Charles, will have a "Colonial Cares" fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. today for Brian Rossi, who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. "Landmarks Plus!" celebration at the 1906 Gridley-Snow house is at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. Discover the home originally named "Ravine House" by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and share cocktails hors d'oeuvres and conversation with architecture and history enthusiasts. Williamsburg Elementary School, 1812 Williamsburg Ave., Geneva, will be dedicated at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28. The fifth-grade students will perform music; Superintendent Kent Mutchler and Principal Julie Dye will speak; and there will be tours and refreshments until 5 p.m.

The Batavia American Legion Post 504 is looking for the general public's help in updating its history files. It seeks names and photos of past commanders from 1974 to 1982. It also wants photos of past commanders James Sykora, Glenn S. Crane, Edmund T. Lally, Carl L. Christensen, Eugene L. Benson, Adelbert Leifheit and Merrill R. Benson.
