Joining with the 'mavericks'

I was not a McCain fan, the first time around - or even this time. I am from the conservative school, and McCain simply was not as 'right' as I thought he should be on many issues. It appears everyone is calling McCain a maverick, and he chose a running mate that many deem a maverick as well.

Of course, I became a McCain guy when he turned out to be my party's nominee, but with little enthusiasm. Having met him personally on several ocasions and although impressed by his record as a patriot, he was not my choice. In fact, there were many other, more conservative that I would have easily voted for.

Contrary to what many are thinking and saying about the vice presidential nominee, Sarah did not hit a home run in her address to the nation, she hit a Grand Slam.

In his nomination speech and very much to my surprise (and that of many others), McCain hit for the cycle.

Demonstrating the leadership abilities he obviously possesses and his choice of a running mate has made me a convert to 'maverickism' and I am more enthusiastic than ever in getting these two elected to our highest office.

If it takes 'mavericks' to get the Republican Party back to where it once was and break the partisan gridlock with Washington insiders, then I have just teamed up with these mavericks.

I hope many others will join me ... for the good of our country.
