No one hurt when plane blows tire, overruns runway at O'Hare
Passengers and crew on board an American Airlines jetliner had a bumpy landing Monday at O'Hare International Airport when their plane blew a tire during an emergency stop.
Officials said 185 passengers were aboard Flight 268 bound from Seattle to JFK International Airport in New York City when the trouble started. Officials said an indicator light in the cockpit of the Boeing 757 went off. There were no injuries as the plane arrived at O'Hare at about 1:30 p.m. No emergency was called before landing.
After the Chicago Fire Department checked the plane, passengers exited using portable stairs and were bused to the terminal, an American Airlines spokeswoman said. They were expected to be rescheduled on an evening flight to New York.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
The flight left Seattle at 7:42 a.m. and was supposed to arrive in New York at 4:10 p.m.
