That's Palin not plain: The 'hockey mom' look is in

The hockey mom look is hot right now.

Fashionistas have turned their attention away from Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama to check out the new girl in town: Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

She's made quite a splash since she appeared on the lower 48 states' radar, and many women seem to like her hockey mom/pit bull with lipstick/Alaska governor/John McCain running mate look.

Stylists say they're getting more requests for Palin's beauty queen up-do, and women are snatching up the 3-inch, red, peep-toe Naughty Monkey Double Dare pumps she wore when McCain introduced her as his running mate.

ShoeMall.com sells the Naughty Monkey pumps she wore for $89.95, but they don't have them in red, only ivory and black.

Arguably, Palin's eyeglass frames are her best fashion statement.

During her speech at the convention, she wore clear-rim glasses by Japanese designer Kazuo Kawasaki (style # MP-704). Alain Mikli sells look-alike frames for $625 at mikli.com, or at Division Optical, 1756 W. Division, Chicago, and Glasses LTD, 49 E. Oak St., Chicago.

More celebrity fashion

Katie Holmes and Heidi Klum have been buying clothes for their kids at thedapperbaby.com, a high-end store with eco-chic and luxury baby clothes from designers like Roberto Cavalli and Marc Jacobs. Heidi Klum's recent picks for her 4-year-old daughter, Leni, include the Organic Lounge Jumper ($42), the Silk Cotton Tiered Jumper Dress ($117) and the Gabrielle Dress ($167).

Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Minnillo, Rachel Bilson and Kristen Bell's picks are a little more affordable. They've been using benefit cosmetics, which are available at suburban Macy's and benefit's Naperville boutique, 214 S. Main St.

Miley smoothes out her complexion with their silky pink That Gal face primer ($28), Vanessa covers up dark circles and flaws with the Erase Paste ($26), Kristen adds a little color to her face with the new Posietint ($28), and Bilson's lashes are brushed with benefit's popular BADgal lash mascara ($19).

The campaign is being spearheaded by "Ugly Betty" star Ana Ortiz and The Allstate Foundation, as part of "Tell a Gal P.A.L." - Pass It On, Act and Learn.
