Kudos to Austriaco and her team

The Chicagoland region was hit hard last weekend by record rains. Des Plaines residents were hit particularly hard, especially those along the Des Plaines River. The river breached its banks and about 100 homes had to be evacuated.

It is times like this that we depend on the kindness of others to help us through. I want to personally thank Aurora Austriaco and her team of volunteers for spending Saturday and Sunday helping to fill sandbags and visiting the shelter at Prairie Lakes Community Center to drop off needed supplies and speaking with displaced residents.

Aurora Austriaco is running for state representative in the 65th District. She could have been spending her time campaigning, but she saw the critical need in Des Plaines and spent the weekend helping flood victims. We need more unselfish leaders like Aurora Austriaco who are willing to roll up their sleeves and take action representing us in Springfield.
