Biggert votes against people's interests

While drilling and foreign oil cannot be a long-term solution to the energy crisis in this country, there is a short-term crisis, both with energy and the economy, which needs to be solved.

That was the reasoning for the Comprehensive Energy Act, which was voted on the House floor recently. Yet again, Judy Biggert chose the special interests over the people's interests and voted against the bill.

The bill allowed drilling 50 miles or more offshore and opening up the strategic reserve to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and reduce the price at the pump for Americans.

This deal would have been devastating for profits of the major oil companies, which conveniently provide Biggert with thousands of dollars every cycle.

The congressional district deserves a representative who will stand up for the people and help lighten the financial burden at the pump, not someone who will stand up for oil companies who are already wealthy beyond belief.

Scott Harper is that representative. Scott is a successful small-business man who chooses the people's interests over special interests. He understands that those who put in a hard days work for this country need their government to help them where it can and not help the people who are so wealthy that they will not even notice the help.
