Q&A with Nendick

1. Why are you running for this office, whether for re-election or election the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what? What will be your main priority?

The clerk's office is facing three critical issues that I have solutions for: 1. Replacing the current computer program that came from Jano Justice System of MO. Jano Justice partners are suing each other. The cost to the taxpayers of Kane County has exceeded $5,000,000 over the past 11 years. That's $5 million outsourced to MO. The estimated cost to replace could exceed that. 2. Implementing a night court system. This will allow the taxpayer an option to taking off work. 3. Make the clerk's office more responsive to the taxpayers.

2. For incumbents and non-incumbents. If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of important initiatives you've led. If you are not an incumbent, tell us what contributions you would make.

Implement a new, more secure and responsive computer system and hire local computer personnel to run and update it. Implement the night court system when approved. Organize the clerk's office to be more responsive to the taxpayers.

3. Has the county's nearly paperless system for filing orders of protection worked as planned? Are there other ways in which the circuit clerk's office can better streamline the justice system?

The system is in place and works relatively well. There are 102 clerks of the circuit court in the state of Illinois. I think I would like to compare it to those at the first meeting of the clerks after I'm elected. There may be better ways. There are other systems.

4. What challenges does the circuit clerk's office currently face? How should they be addressed? What challenges do you see affecting the office in the next four years?

Replacing the current computer system. The reason is above. Also investigating the subsidiary of Jano Justice who offers the information about transactions occurring in court online. Night court implementation. Make the office more responsive to the taxpayers.

5. What would you do to improve the effectiveness of the position?

Better leadership, better and more open communications with the workers, better organization, and a more business-like approach to evaluating the current system relative to the other 101 systems running through the state.

6. Please list the names of all relatives employed by or involved in contracts with Kane County, their relationship to you and their position or area of business.

None.
