Conservatives: Take heed of deficits
Take heart. I saw an Obama sign in the front yard of a dyed-in-the-wool Republican here in Wheaton whose father, too, was once, before he died, a Republican force in our county and town. These are not non-engaged "undecideds."
Is the Republican base turning against McCain and Palin? It's about time true conservatives paid attention to the wanton deficits of trillions of dollars that the war and now the economy are costing the taxpayers. A good catch phrase: privatize the profits of corporate financial institutions, but socialize their losses when the government and taxpayers have to bail them out. A sheer policy of corporate welfare and "welfare cheats" as Reagan used to say. And that man with the Republicans he led was responsible for the deregulation mania we suffer from today.
