Budweiser, building owners battle over sign

Is it last call for the King of Beers?

That's the question near Wrigley Field as Anheuser-Busch and the owners of a building with a huge red and white Budweiser advertisement on the roof are squaring off in a legal battle.

The corporation that owns the building says the beer maker didn't pay its rent on time and defaulted on its lease. It's gone to court looking for a legal order allowing it to take possession of the part of the roof where the sign is.

But Anheuser-Busch filed a lawsuit of its own Thursday -- a day after the new owner covered the advertisement with a tarp. The brewer says it's tried to pay but its check was sent back. It contends it has exclusive rights to the roof through next February.
