Briefs: Campton cruise nights

Weekly "cruise nights" featuring hot rods and vintage vehicles are planned through this month in Campton Hills. The events take place from 6 to 9 tonight at Campton Crossings shopping center along Route 64. Cruise nights also include '50s and '60s music and trophies. Call (630) 584-5700.

'Green' at Batavia market

Saturday is "Green Day" at the Batavia Farmers Market. Representatives from conservation organizations will have information available. The market is from 8 a.m. to noon on South Water Street.

Learn about perennials

Wasco Nursery & Garden Center will raise money for Lazarus House with a seminar on perennials from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at 41W781 Route 64, west of St. Charles. The seminar featuring Laurie McGhee of Bailey Nursery and includes a slide show presentation and lessons about perennial color combinations, among other topics. Campton farmers market

Fresh fruits, vegetables and meats are among the locally produced goods on sale each week at the Campton Hills Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday and Sept. 27 at Campton Crossings shopping center along Route 64. Call (630) 584-5700.

Learn about Wright

At 2 p.m. Saturday the Geneva History Center will welcome architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright, as portrayed by actor and scholar Lyman Shepard, will regale the audience with tales from his storied and sometimes scandalous career. He will also share images of the many buildings he designed, from early homes to international masterpieces. Genevans may recall that Wright was involved in several local projects and also worked extensively with Geneva builders Oscar and August Wilson. Cost is $4 for members; $6 for nonmembers, with all proceeds benefiting the Geneva History Center. Call (630) 232-4951 to make a reservation. The center is at 113 S. Third St.
