Three charged in window breaking spree

Three people have been charged with breaking windows at four locations in Carpentersville Tuesday night, including the home of a police officer who had arrested a man with a gun earlier in the day outside Dundee-Crown High School.

Carpentersville police stopped a white Lexus in a driveway on Hickory Court late Tuesday; its three passengers had been seen by witnesses breaking home and vehicle windows at four locations, including the officer's home, police said.

At 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, a front picture window and a rear vehicle window were broken by bricks on the 100 block of Adobe Circle. A brick and pieces of flying glass hit the 56-year-old homeowner in the face and cut him.

Around 10 p.m., a large picture window and a vehicle window were smashed with bricks on the 6000 block of Hampton Drive.

Seven minutes later, a picture window and a vehicle window were broken on the 100 block of Caddy Avenue.

Police said the broken windows were retaliation between two street gangs.

"It is likely the broken windows at the police officer's home and the arrest of Christopher Breceda earlier were connected because he was the officer who arrested him," Carpentersville Police Cmdr. Timothy Bosshart said.

Everado Lara, 23, of 287 Ridge Ave., Crystal Lake, and Jose A. Aldaco, 19, of 224 Fairway Lane, Carpentersville, were charged with three counts of criminal damage to property, three counts of mob action and one count of reckless conduct.

Aldaco also was charged with resisting a police officer for trying to escape, police said.

Sandra Parra, 18, of 412 Amarillo Court, Carpentersville, was charged with felony counts of criminal damage to property and mob action, police said.

The bonds were set Wednesday afternoon at $4,000 for Lara and Parra and $5,000 for Aldaco.

The three were assigned court dates on Sept. 26 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
