Step off with your pooch at Snoopy Dogfest's walk-a-thon

Call now to register and get your pledge forms for Snoopy Dogfest, a fundraiser for Canine Companions for Independence to be held Sept. 27. Registration on site will begin at 10 a.m. and the walk will start at 11 a.m. at Hollister, Inc., 2000 Hollister Drive, Libertyville. The pet-friendly walk-a-thon for dogs and humans will be held, rain or shine. Dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations and rabies shots and must be on leash. Walkers under the age of 18 must have parental consent. Call (815) 334-8236 or go to www.cci.org/snoopydogfestchicago. The walk is approximately two miles long.

On Snoopy Dogfest day, there will also be fun contests, such as costume and silliest dog trick, face painting, vendor booths, entertainment and live auction plus food and beverages. Pledge forms and donations must exceed $25 to be eligible for prizes.

CCI provides service dogs for disabled children and adults. For more information about the organization, contact the area satellite office in Woodstock at (815) 334-8236.

Correction Clinics: The German Shepherd Dog Trainng Club of Chicago will hold the next Correctional Clinic on Sept. 26 in the clubhouse at 4925 County Farm Road, Hanover Park. Pre-entry fee is $5 per dog plus $3 for an additional entry of the same dog. These must be received by the Wednesday prior to the clinic by Teri Childers, 894 Somerset Drive, Carol Stream, IL 60188. E-mail or gate entry fee is $6 plus $4. • Rand Park Dog Training Club's date for the next Correction Clinic will be Oct. 25, not on Oct. 4 as previously scheduled, due to a schedule conflict.

Booth at Festival: Four Paws Animal Foundation will have an Exhibitor's Booth at Ontarioville's Art Festival Sunday, Sept. 21. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Jubilee/Ontarioville Park in Hanover Park.

Classes: You may still be able to sign up for fall classes in District 214's Community Education Program. Included are: Animal Whispering #5400, a one session class from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 16 in Prospect High School's Room 130; Become a Therapy Team #5305, also a one session class, from 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 18 in the Forest View Education Center's South Gym; and Canine Good Citizenship Evaluation #5306 at the same location from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 8 and 15.
