St. Charles sexual predator charged with violating registration

Police arrested a St. Charles man the Illinois State Police sex offender Web site identifies as a sexual predator with charges of failing to keep up with his mandatory registration.

Eric D. Sepulveda, 33, of 908 Fern St., was arrested Monday for failing to renew his sex offender registration with St. Charles police at the 90-day renewal period. Sepulveda was five days past his re-registration date when police took him into custody without incident at his job, located on the 1800 block of Wallace Avenue.

Sexual predators are required to register at least annually for their natural life. Sometimes local laws require more frequent updates.

Sepulveda has a criminal record involving criminal sexual abuse with the use of force, aggravated criminal sexual assault and violations of the sex offender registration laws. Sepulveda's victim was 24 years old at the time; he was 21. Failure to register as a sex offender is a Class 3 Felony. He faces a prison sentence of not less than two years, but not more than five years. Bond was set at $30,000 following Sepulveda's first appearance Tuesday in Kane County Court.
