Fire make it 10 in a row (the bad way) in Colorado

Preston Burpo made 4 saves, and the Colorado Rapids beat the Chicago Fire 2-0 on Sunday before 14,214 at Commerce City, Colo., and kept themselves in the playoff chase.

The Fire (11-8-5) has a 10-game winless streak in Colorado, where the Fire hasn't won since Oct. 6, 1999. The Fire is in third place in the Eastern Conference, 3 points behind New England and 6 points behind the conference-leading Columbus Crew.

Colorado (9-12-3) got on the scoreboard first when Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch deflected a shot by Jordan Harvey, only to have it cross the goal line for an own goal in the 30th minute.

Omar Cummings scored off an assist from Terry Cooke in the 37th minute to make it 2-0.

"They scored 2 goals that I could have saved," Busch said. "The first goal came down to me. I had it in my hands, but it just slipped through in the end. Overall, we have to play Fire soccer from start to finish. If we played like we did in the second half, this would have been a different game."
