A Safe Place offers support groups 8/20
A Safe Place offers weekly support groups to victims of domestic violence in confidential locations throughout Lake County. There are no fees and no time limits on how often or how long a survivor may attend these groups. Groups are currently being held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in Deerfield, Wednesdays in Round Lake and Thursdays in Vernon Hills; and from 1-2 p.m. on Thursdays in Zion. A Latina group is held from 7-8:15 p.m. on Thursdays in Waukegan.

Save-A-Pet seeks donations
Save-A-Pet Adoption Center is seeking donations to help cover the cost of a vital operation for Jackson, a 2-year-old Boston terrier and beagle mix dog that was found alone in a flooded area in west central Illinois with a shattered pelvis.
A rescue group involved in saving animals affected by recent floods sent out an e-mail to shelter and rescues across Illinois, Missouri, Ohio and surrounding states requesting help meeting $1,800 to $2,000 cost of Jackson's surgery to keep him from having to be put down.
Save-A-Pet is now asking for donations to help cover the cost of Jackson's operation and recuperation. All donations should be made payable to Save-A-Pet Adoption Center, 31664 N. Fairfield Road, Grayslake, IL 60046.
