Politicians behave like children

I watched both the Democratic and Republican conventions with my children and I have to say, what an embarrassment.

It seems the people we are evaluating to lead our country have lowered themselves to name calling.

My 7-year-old daughter is the one who noticed this first. She asked me why they were "making fun" of the other guys.

All I could tell her was they are politicians and they live by their own rules but expect us to live by the rules they place upon us.

It is truly a shame that these two groups are the best we can come up with. What we need is a third party that would stir up the establishment.

I have taught both my daughters over the years that name calling is not acceptable. I have taught both my daughters to treat people the way you would want to be treated.

Now all these lessons that my wife and I have instilled in our children are being challenged by the people running our country.

It seems these two groups are only interested in keeping control of the government and not fixing the problems that they themselves have created.

With this control comes power and benefits that only they can experience. Lose control and you lose power then the benefits.

We as Americans have become zombies to these politicians, being forced by them to choose sides.

My side is as an American, not a Democrat or a Republican. It's time that these politicians start representing the people of America and what is best for Americans.

Our government has had well over 200 years to set up shop and fix these problems but that would not be to the politicians' best interest but ours, and if they did that, they would lose control.
