Questions about patriotism uncool

NBC reached a new low when Bill Collinsworth actually asked Kobe Bryant during the Olympic coverage "if it was cool in this day and age to say that you love your country and that you are fighting for the red, white and blue? It seems sort of like a day gone by." How pathetic, Bill.

Kudos to Kobe for displaying honorable patriotism by saying that "it gave him goose bumps" to see his USA uniform and represent the USA. And added kudos to Kobe for having the courage to respond directly to Collinsworth's dumb comment by saying "No, it is a cool thing for me to say. I feel great about it and I am not ashamed to say it. I mean this is a tremendous honor."

Only our media could witness the obvious pride that all of our athletes displayed in representing their country and call it "uncool." Only our media could watch tears role down the eyes of our athletes as they stood on the podium while our national anthem played when they won the gold and ask if it was "cool" to feel national pride. National pride is obvious and very cool as all of the athletes of all nations clearly showed their pride in representing their countries. That is what the Olympics is all about.

Bill Collinsworth just showed again how our media is totally disconnected from the values that most of us still hold dear.
