Left-wing smear tactics didn't work
When the Democrats found out that Governor Sarah Palin was the Republican candidate for vice president, they attacked her by claiming that she lacked the experience for the job. Then when they found out that she had been Governor of Alaska for about two years with an 86 percent approval rating, that she had a solid record as a reformer, and before that she was a mayor of a small town for six years, they were embarrassed to find that Governor Palin had far more relevant experience and accomplishments than either Sen. Obama or Sen. Biden.
When the claim that Palin lacked experience tanked, the Democrats and their media friends switched to a slime and sleaze assault on Governor Palin's family. The Washington Post and The New York Times and the mainstream media started using lies manufactured in the blogosphere by hate groups such as the Daily Kos and turned rumors and lies into hard news and headline smears. They spent more time on Governor Palin's 17-year-old daughter's pregnancy then on Obama's dealings with slumlords like Tony Rezko and his association with radicals like Bill Ayers.
But their smear campaign did not work. McCain's choice of Governor Palin solidified Republicans and the smear tactics of the left wing media brought in support from millions of independent voters. The failed tactics of the Democrats may give McCain and Palin the votes they need for victory in November
