Police beat

Carpentersville

• A 22-year-old woman flagged down a police officer at 3:45 a.m. Friday in the vicinity of 26 Oxford Drive. She reported that a thin man wearing a white shirt and blue jeans robbed her of her car keys and shoes.

Elgin

• Three of the people arrested Wednesday on charges of intimidation of a police officer, criminal damage to his property and disorderly conduct have posted $1,000 bonds. Vanessa A. Bittinger, 20, of 113 Granada Road, Carpentersville, James R. Groscup, 21, of the same address, and Michael J. Schmidt, 22, of 1164 Cold Spring Road, Elgin, have been released from custody. Douglas Henson, 19, of 934 St. Charles St., Elgin and Robert Peluso, of 425 Bowen Court, Elgin, were transported Friday morning to the Kane County jail. All five have Sept. 19 court dates at the Kane County Judicial Center.

• A dark blue Ford Econoline van was stolen between last Saturday and Monday from a lot at Hopkins Ford, 1045 E. Chicago St., Elgin. Police said one ignition key to the vehicle was missing from the key box in the conference room.

McHenry County

• A southbound semi truck on Route 20 driven by Ralph Bumann, 54, of Duncan, Okla., jackknifed into a northbound Lincoln Navigator driven by Eduardo Jimenez, 19, of Hanover at 5:48 a.m. Friday. The accident occurred north of Harmony Road in McHenry County after a car in front of the semi turned into a parking lot and Bumann lost control of his vehicle. Jimenez and two other men in the car were taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin with non life-threatening injuries. Bumann was cited for failure to use due care to avoid an accident and following too closely to avoid an accident, McHenry County Sheriff's police said.

Pingree Grove

• A southbound semi collided with a Mazda at the corner of Route 47 and Plank Road at 11:57 a.m. Friday. Only the two drivers were involved. Pingree Grove emergency medical personnel said the woman driving the Mazda was transported to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin with non life-threatening injuries. The traffic tie-up at the intersection was minimal. Kane County Sheriff's police, the Hampshire Fire Department and the Burlington Fire Department assisted.
