Dave Dinaso's Traveling World of Reptiles show is at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Parking deck party
The Downtown St. Charles Partnership has planned a "deck party" to celebrate the opening of St. Charles' new First Street parking deck. The event will take place on Walnut Street, west of the parking deck, from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday. It will feature local food vendors and merchants, live music, a beer tent and activities for children. Dunham Road closing
Dunham Road north of Stearns Road in St. Charles Township will be reduced to one lane Wednesday while crews install a concrete barrier along the west side of Dunham. The closure is scheduled to be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Motorist delays are expected. For more information, call (630) 845-7875.
Dist. 301 to dispose of student records:
Central Community Unit School District 301 will dispose of student temporary records from graduating classes of 2002 and 2003 on Nov. 15. Parents and students can request copies of these records before their destruction. Call (847) 464-6005.

Kane County assessments supervisor Mark Armstrong and his staff have developed a presentation explaining property taxes and how property value is assessed, and Armstrong is ready to take it on the road to any group that wants to learn. "Fiction vs. Fact About Property Tax Assessments" is also available on the county Web site, at www.co.kane.il.us/soa/presentation.htm. Armstrong showed the presentation to the county board committee of the whole Tuesday. It discusses seven beliefs about property taxes.
