Steel Beam to offer fall classes
Steel Beam Theatre in St. Charles is taking registration for fall acting classes. Classes are available for students, age 6 to 16, will be held at the Steel Beam Theatre rehearsal space located in the Cedar Avenue Business Center, 125 N. 11th Ave., St. Charles. All classes focus on different aspects of acting and each session will end with an informal showcase that family and friends are welcome to attend. The six-week session I begins the week of Sept. 15 and concludes the week of Oct. 27. Tuition is $110. Scholarships are available to families in need. Acting Up!: This class geared toward the "wee" actors, age 6 to 8. It will be filled with movement and exploring voice and stage presence and fun. The session will end with an informal showcase that family and friends are welcome to attend. The program will be Mondays from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. The instructor is Lori Holm.
Beginning Scene Study: Acting exercises will help students, age 9 to 12, understand the basics of line delivery, blocking, movement, and group interaction. Family and friends are invited to watch the cumulative production on the last day. The program will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays. The instructor is Sandy Dixon.
LEAP into Acting!: Get to know the theater from the green room to the stage lights with this class for ages 9 to 11. Explore the core of what it means to get started as an actor, how to prepare a character and gain confidence through performing. The session will end with an informal showcase that family and friends are welcome to attend. The program will be from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays. The instructor will be Emily Faye Hanna.
Audition Prep: Learn just what to expect when attending an audition. The "ins and outs" will be taught in this class, so you can attend your next audition with confidence. The students, age 12 to 14, also will learn to develop monologues. The session will end with an informal showcase that family and friends are welcome to attend. The program for ages 12 to 14 will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays with instructor Emily Faye Hanna. The program for ages 9 to 11 will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays with instructor Lori Holm.
