New eateries planned for Hoffman Estates
Want to grab a burrito or a Guinness before watching a Shamrox lacrosse game at the Sears Centre arena?
While Hoffman Estates won't have any hardware stores once Menards closes its doors before Thanksgiving Day, village officials did announce plans Monday for four new restaurants.
The eateries are to be built in a 4-acre area at Prairie Stone Business Park, home of Sears headquarters and the Sears Centre Arena, off I-90 east of Beverly Road.
Hoffman Estates officials say the village lacks sit-down eateries, pointing to how busy existing restaurants like Buffalo Wild Wings and Claim Jumper get on weekends. Trustees also want to give Sears Centre patrons nearby pre- and post-show options.
La Hacienda Mexican restaurant will take up one building and will have a capacity for 390 diners with a bar, while Tilted Kilt, an Irish pub and grill would serve 181 customers and take up another building.
"We would start tomorrow if we could," said Scott Triphahn, of W-T Engineering, who represented Tilted Kilt.
A third building could house two restaurants, Southern Belle and Porky's. Officials are still in the planning stages there. A fourth building also has yet to find a tenant.
Triphahn, who also is a Hoffman Estates Park District commissioner, said a March 17 St. Patrick's Day opening day would be ideal for Tilted Kilt.
