Gages Lake mom delivers baby in ambulance

A 23-year-old woman gave birth while being rushed to a hospital in a Grayslake Fire Protection District ambulance Wednesday, officials said.

Paramedics were summoned to assist a woman in labor. The Gages Lake woman delivered the boy on her way to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The ambulance was near Gages Lake and Hunt Club roads, about a mile from her home in the 33600 block of Evergreen Drive, when paramedics were pressed into service for the delivery.

Condell emergency room doctors met the mother to provide additional care, authorities said. Mom and baby were reported in stable condition.
