Ex-SIU worker admits to theft

CARBONDALE -- A former employee at Southern Illinois University has pleaded guilty to charges that accused her of using an SIU credit card to buy thousands of dollars worth of items for herself.

Forty-one-year-old Rhonda Musgrove of Anna was originally accused of spending between $10,000 and $100,000 of university money and charged with felony charges.

In a plea agreement, she pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft and agreed to repay more than $20,000. She also was sentenced to two years probation.

Musgrove was an administrative assistant in the political science department at the Carbondale campus. Court records say the offenses happened last year.
