Unite to move country forward
I wanted to write a comment in this newspaper to remind everyone how important this election is to this country.
For the last eight years we have seen our country go from one that was admired by all around the world, to one that has lost its respect. And the economy is in the toilet. The policies of the Republican party have destroyed this country while dividing it into blue and red states.
We are all Americans! Whether white, black, Asian, Hispanic, or what any other nationality we are - that doesn't matter. We are all Americans; and if we are going to pull ourselves out of this mess, we are all going to have to come together for the better good of all. John F. Kennedy said it best: "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."
The Republican party wants you to be divided so they can say they have all the answers. And they want you to feel that you can't do anything without their help. The federal government is there to protect us and to uphold the laws of the land, but we the people need to stand up and have one collective voice in demanding that they work for us and not big business.
We have to start finding alternative energy sources and not just keep drilling. That is what the government is supposed to do.
In closing, I just want you to register to vote and to vote on election day. Because if we don't take this more seriously, we will get more of the same.
I am voting for the one man that shows me he has the leadership skills to get this country in the right direction. And that man is Barack Obama. If you are tired of the past, then he is our man. We need change!
