Briefs: Musicians, ESO ratify contract

Members of the Chicago Federation of Musicians Local 10-208 have ratified a new 5-year contract with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra after reaching a tentative agreement in June 8, ESO officials said in a news release. "We are very happy to have reached a 5-year deal with the ESO. We believe that we have struck a balance with an agreement that will both attract and maintain highly qualified musicians while being fiscally responsible in ensuring the long-range viability of one of Elgin's premiere cultural institutions," Chicago Federation of Musicians President Gary Matts said in the release.
