Briefs: Arlington Hts. police warn of scam
Arlington Heights police are warning of a scam to trick people out of money via wire transfer. A number of residents of a senior living community have received phone calls, in which the caller portrays himself as a relative of the victim, most commonly a grandson. The caller then says he has been involved in an accident while traveling in Canada and needs money sent to him via Moneygram, usually to Niagara Falls. If you get a call like this, do not wire money, and get as much information as possible about the call and caller, police said. Then, report the incident to police at (847) 368-5354.
