Bensenville man faces molestation charges

A Bensenvile man was indicted this week on charges he repeatedly molested a young girl, then threatened to harm her if she told anyone about it.

Juan C. Cortez, 28, 934 David Drive, is facing predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and intimidation charges. He has been in the DuPage County jail on a $1 million bond since his arrest last month.

Cortez is accused of repeatedly raping the child, now 9, on at least one-half dozen occasions dating back to summer 2006. Authorities said Cortez first attacked the child on her 7th birthday.
