Bias shows in convention coverage
I guess subtlety is out the window for the Daily Herald; your blatant bashing of the GOP for scaling back on their convention in light of hurricane Gustav shows your party favoritism.
First, I disagree with your analogy comparing the convention to sporting events and festivals. The GOP regards its delegates as servants of the American people, there to help them in times of trouble and need, not paid athletes whose job it is to entertain, or festivals also established for entertainment.
Secondly, of course these conventions are just a big party (in my opinion, a disgusting waste of money that could be better spent on more worthy causes). Yes, the purpose of the convention is to nominate a candidate, but has it ever occurred that we didn't know who that candidate was before the convention?
Finally, since you are democratic, how is it that YOU would know that the Republican party wants President Bush to play as little part as possible in the convention? I think you overstep your knowledge, but that didn't stop you from expressing an opinion as fact.
