Shamrox draft Libertyville native

The Chicago Shamrox added Syracuse star Steven Brooks, a Libertyville native, as one of the picks in the 2008 Entry Draft this weekend. The Shamrox also picked up Jamie Kirk, whose brother Mike Kirk also plays on the National League Lacrosse indoor club.

Jamie and Mike will be the second set of brothers to player for the Shamrox. During the 2008 season brothers Scott and Brad Self played alongside on the Shamrox, and both look to return to the field when the team kicks off its season on Dec. 27 at the Sears Centre Arena.

The Shamrox took three other players in the second round of the 2008 Entry Draft: Geoff Griffiths (19th overall) from Bellarmine University, Josh Funk (21st overall) from Ohio State and Brooks (22nd overall) from Syracuse University. Brooks played this summer in the outdoor lacrosse league with the Chicago Machine.
