Let's put brakes on lavish cash flow

Arlington Heights should be known as "The Village That Can't Say 'No.'"

The schools wanted $16 million for air conditioning for possibly two months of the year, May and September. Now, they got it!

The schools wanted two printers for each school. Yes, for this too!

The village wanted four hybrid cars. Yes, again!

"We owe this to our citizens," says Trustee Helen Jensen. What do they owe us ... a bill for $85,000? "The question is, do we want to be a leader or a follower?" says Village Manager Bill Dixon. Maybe we should stop being stupid and start saying "No" to our free-spending, "haven't heard a request to deny yet" village "leaders."
