Geneva program has restored spirit

It's tough to put this in proper and concise perspective:

Nothing is more important than a sense of knowing where we've come from.

I didn't go to Geneva High School, but my youngest brother Tom did as a '93-94 Viking. I watched him play for Coach Jerry. Then later my wife, I, and our own little boys moved to Geneva, and we never missed a home (or many away) games in the '80s and '90s - good or bad. I'll never forget a special one ... at Morris in the last game of the year the "hook and lateral" to Swanson - no time left on the clock, 70 yards, TD. Geneva wins!

Morris' coach was way past livid.

Kudos to Coach Wicinski, Jim Kafer and the all the high school staff for two special things: Doing an incredible job of returning to Geneva that central "pride of community" and knowing where it came from and that all dogs have very great and special things to contribute.

Thanks, Herald, for recognizing this.

Cheer for the kids, Rob and Jerry on these coming Friday nights. Go Vikings!
