White, Antioch sprint to victory

"Amazing."

It was one of the first words out of the mouth of Cameron White after his career night of 9 carries for 261 yards and 4 touchdowns.

"It's nothing special, but it just happens," said White of his efforts. "It all comes down to good blocking. I'm really not shocked about it. It really hasn't hit me."

White also led the Sequoits past visiting Grayslake North 40-6 in a nonconference game. Antioch (2-0) posted its first home victory in almost three years dating back to Sept. 23, 2005.

White left everyone watching in amazement of what he accomplished each time each touched the ball.

"Our blocks are crisp and they sprung my way." White said. "It's all the blocking that sprung me."

White found the end zone on the first three drives for the Sequoits.

On Antioch's opening drive, White made a Grayslake North player miss him completely and scored on a 25-yard run for a 7-0 lead with 9:53 left first quarter.

Then White scampered on a 75-yard gallop through some outstanding blocks, making it score 13-0 with 3:30 remaining in the opening quarter.

For the third score, White broke free for 49 yards with 11:24 on the clock in the seconds quarter, which put the Sequoits up 20-0.

"Our first segment on offense is all blocking," Antioch coach Brian Glashagel said. "We do all the fundamentals in blocking."

The Sequoits' sophomore Josh Guadarrama rushed for a 9-yard touchdown and increased the lead to 27-0 with 7:53 left before halftime.

Grayslake North (0-2) got its only score at the 4:47 mark, when Mike Morales had a 1-yard run.

Antioch added two other scores in the second half, both on rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Matt Romani 22 yards and White broke loose for a 76-yard touchdown run.

"We haven't seen a running back that good here and I don't think we'll see one like that the rest of the year," Grayslake North coach Steve Wood said. "(Antioch) does a nice job and they've got a nice attack.

"Last year it was Cameron (White). Now they've got three running backs. They goo up and down the field at will. We stopped them just one time."
