Discrimination in funding is evil
I support Sen. Meeks in his drive for equal funding for education and call on my fellow suburban residents to rally around this very worthwhile cause.
I look forward to the day when the schools where I live receive the same funding from Springfield as the schools where Sen. Meeks lives.
Chicago schools get around $4,000 per student from the state. Suburban schools get around $1,000.
We have got to stop this blatant discrimination that treats some children as less worthy than others.
Discrimination in all forms is evil and it must be confronted and stamped out. I am with you, Sen. Meeks, and I thank you for your efforts to make sure the children where I live are treated by the State of Illinois the same as the children where you live.
The children where I live are just as important as the children where Sen. Meeks lives, and Springfield should recognize this. Let's stop treating suburban children as second-class citizens.
