South Elgin to vie for Burlington tourney title

With a pair of goals from Dan Bohlin, Bart Mazurek and Onyx Gonzalez, South Elgin (2-2) stormed its way into the championship match of the Burlington Central Tournament defeating Yorkville 8-1 Friday. Ernesto Caballero and Mike Alfini each added single knocks while assists came from Caballero, Matt Shipon, Alfini (2), Arnold Ramirez and three from Kevin McElwain.

The Storm will face Kaneland at 1 p.m. today for the tournament title.

Boys soccer

Genoa-Kingston 5, Hampshire 0: Trailing 3-0 at the half, Hampshire (0-4) couldn't battle back and wound up falling to Genoa-Kingston at the Burlington Central Tournament. In goal, Mason Sorg tallied 7 saves for the Whip-Purs who will play Yorkville for fifth place at 9 a.m.
