Don't miss this year's Freedom Fest

Freedom Festival is this Saturday Sept. 6 in downtown Barrington.

We want to thank the organizers at We-Do-Care.org for bringing the gift of honor, tradition and history to our children. As parents of young children who have attended this event for the past five years, we want to encourage everyone in our community to bring your children and your grandchildren to this wonderful family event to thank and support our U.S. service people and their families.

The Freedom Festival provides us an opportunity to show our children firsthand the concept of selfless service which has truly been the hallmark of our country's history since the Revolutionary period. Our soldiers and their families have made the ultimate contribution by committing themselves to protecting our freedoms, and extending goodwill and humanitarian aid throughout the world.

If you do nothing else, come for the opening bugle call, memorial wreath laying and gun salute. Americans are a nation of freedom fighters, and a generous nation willing to share our military with the world to aid developing countries in need. Thanks to our soldiers, that's been our history and it is unlike any other country in the world. Bring your children and let them witness American traditions, ceremonies and caring support. And, stick around for the bands, military vehicles, flyovers and the food!
