A Walk in the Park: Six Flags Friends and Cure Kids Cancer join forces to raise public awareness and funding for childhood cancers at this walk-a-thon at 8 a.m. Sept. 7. All proceeds will benefit the Cure Kids Cancer organization; all donations will go directly to local hospitals that help children with cancer in our community. A $25 registration fee per person includes breakfast, gift bag, Cure Kids Cancer souvenir wristband and entrance to a closing celebration. Historical Society Fall Festival: Noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 7, Deerfield Historic Village, Deerfield Road and Kipling Place. The 33rd annual Deerfield Area Historical Society Fall Festival. The free event will feature children's activities, live entertainment, food, historic building tours, craft demonstrations, a book and antique sale, and more. The Lions Club of Grayslake steer roast: Noon-5 p.m. Sept. 7; Grayslake Middle School, 440 N. Barron Blvd. (Route 83). Prices: Adults $10; Seniors 62 and up $9; Children 5-11 $5; under 4 eat free. Carry outs are available. All proceeds stay in the community. There will be a 50/50 raffle prizes with a guarantee of $500 in total. Call (847) 223-5222
