Legislator's update was ill-timed

Recently, I received a copy of Ruth Munson's "Capitol Update" and noticed that it says it was "Printed by the Authority of the State of Illinois."

As a taxpayer and a resident of the district, I am tired of politicians using our tax dollars to help their political campaigns right before an election. I understand that our state representative wants to inform residents about what was done in Springfield, but the Illinois House adjourned in May. If a majority of the work noted in the state paid mailer was finished in May, why did Ruth Munson wait to send us this flyer until August?

As someone who is concerned with the lack of leadership in Springfield, I am tired of hearing how we don't have any money for our schools, roads and community service programs. I find it extremely disheartening to see our hard-earned tax dollars being used for a politician's re-election effort and not for the benefit of our community.
