Fox Ridge to celebrate 20th year

Twenty years ago, the Chicago Bulls' Michael Jordan was named as the NBA's Most Valuable Player, the first night game was held at Wrigley Field, "The Last Emperor" won nine Oscars, George Michael's "Faith" was the No. 1 Pop hit, and "The Cosby Show" was the country's most popular TV show.

And 1988 also marked the year when Fox Ridge Elementary School first opened its doors in St. Charles.

Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, Fox Ridge will serve as the host site for a rededication ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the school's 1905 Tyler Road location in St. Charles.

Other scheduled events include the opening of a time capsule at 4:30 p.m., an open house and tea from 5 to 6 p.m., and a families and friends picnic at 6 p.m.
