Remembering how important labor is

On Labor Day, we remember the many positive achievements of organized labor in the United States.

The labor movement is responsible for America's strong middle class by standing up for workers' rights and making it possible for hard-working men and women to earn a fair wage and have a safe working environment.

Labor has successfully gained rights for workers that include overtime pay, benefits and protections against unsafe working conditions.

The fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, affordable health care and job training continues today.

On Nov. 4, we have the chance to elect two candidates for state representative who will bring a voice back to the forgotten middle class in our communities:

Mark Walker and Aurora Austriaco. Walker and Austriaco will work hard in the General Assembly to ensure that working men and women get the recognition and protections they deserve not just on Labor Day, everyday.
