Emergency or not, go slow on Garfield

This letter is directed to the driver of a gray van with a red stripe, who on Sunday morning with horn blaring and speeding ran every stop sign on Garfield Avenue, not to mention disregarding many traffic laws.

Since this road is one the main thoroughfares to Condell Hospital, one can only surmise this was your destination and not some form of joy riding.

I'd like to remind you (and all drivers) that Garfield Avenue, from Park Avenue to Golf Road, is residential. We have an abundance of schools, pedestrians (especially children and joggers), pets and other vehicles who use this road every day. This particular Sunday was no different.

I am appalled and angered by your actions. If your emergency was so great, you should have called 911 and not taken it upon yourself to blatantly disregard the safety of others, not to mention yourself and your passenger.

Let me remind everyone that we have an excellent emergency response system in Libertyville. I know from having to call 911 on several occasions, how fortunate we are to have these men and women respond immediately to our emergencies.

I implore you and everyone who use Garfield Avenue to utilize caution and safety. If needed, call 911 and let the professionals handle your emergency.
