For U.S., charity must begin at home

I'm tired of hearing all these people that are here illegally and want rights.

Well, as someone who has been born and lived all my life as a citizen who paid taxes and obeyed the law, I would like some rights too.

It would be nice to have free medical insurance and not pay for my kids' schooling like some here not as citizens do. They know the law better than we do. They can figure out if they get sick, go to the emergency room and say you don't have insurance and get taken care of free.

I have to pay for my insurance and theirs. A new program of all kids get insured should not include those who are not citizens.

My grandparents came here years ago, became citizens, paid taxes, obeyed the law and learned to speak the language.

If I went to another country, they wouldn't treat me the way people get treated when they come here.

We have money to give people all over the world, but can't take care of our own citizens. That is a shame.

All our legislators care about is raising their salaries while we have to live on what we get, yet they find money to send all over the world.

As the saying goes, charity begins at home. Let's start practicing what we preach. When we can take care of all our people here, then we can support others.

There are people here who are citizens and can't afford food or housing and we can't help them out.

"America, the land of the free." That doesn't say much when we have people here who can't afford to live a decent life.
